FAQ: MCDM's Kingdoms & Warfare Kickstarter
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

SHIPPING | How do I give you/update my shipping address?

We use BackerKit to collect shipping addresses when we’re getting closer to shipping out all the physical rewards. At some point we’ll lock down shipping addresses and that’s when you’ll know we’re really close to packing everything up and sending it out, but before then you can submit your shipping address to us by completing your pledge manager survey, and you can also update it by reusing that survey link to access your pledge in case you move between the time the pledge manager opens and when we lock down addresses.

While your address is unlocked, you should be able to see and click ‘Edit Shipping Info’ to update your shipping details.

SHIPPING | Tracking

In general, most Backers in the US, EU, Canada, and Australia will receive tracking numbers once their order has left the warehouse, but other countries are somewhat hit-or-miss in regards to a tracking link (based on our experience with the Strongholds & Streaming Kickstarter).

Once your package has been shipped, you’ll receive an email notification which will include a tracking link if one is provided.

SHIPPING | Customs & Duties

The Kingdoms & Warfare Kickstarter is US-, Canada-, Australia-, and EU-friendly. This means you shouldn’t have to pay any additional Customs upon receiving your package since we’ll be shipping you your goodies from within your region. Due to Brexit, the UK is no longer within the EU so we cannot guarantee region-friendly shipping as the products will not be dispatched from a UK warehouse.

SHIPPING | Shipping Restrictions & Proxy Shipping

There are a few countries we’re not able to ship to for the Kingdoms & Warfare Kickstarter:

  • Afghanistan
  • Brazil
  • Congo
  • Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast)
  • Cuba
  • Democratic Republic of Congo
  • Eritrea
  • Guam
  • Guinea-Bissau
  • Haiti
  • Iran
  • Iraq
  • Liberia
  • Libya
  • Myanmar (Burma)
  • North Korea
  • Russia
  • Somalia
  • South Africa
  • Sudan
  • Syria
  • Ukraine

If you live outside of the countries listed above, we’re able to ship to you!

PROXY SHIPPING If you live in one of the countries above, you may be able to use a “proxy shipping” service based in a supported country in order to receive your pledge rewards. A reddit user, FluffyCookie, mentioned them in our Kickstarter announcement thread and we’ve seen a handful of Backers use them with success:

So there are these companies that are specialized in this kind of thing. You basically register at them and they give you a temporary address (which is basically just a mailbox) at one of their facilities. Then whenever you have gotten all of the stuff delivered to your mailbox that you want, you tell them to ship it to you and they’ll figure out the rest. (I’ve done it once before and it didn’t cost anything to register, just to have them mail the things to you).

This isn’t something us at MCDM can facilitate, but we wanted to mention it in case you wanted to do the legwork and see if it’s a workaround you’d like to employ! In some cases, the proxy shipping company may need documentation to help your order get through Customs (typically a packing slip, commercial invoice, and/or order invoice), so please get in touch with us and we’ll try to help you as quickly as we can! :)

PLEDGE MANAGER | What is it?

A pledge manager is a tool that comes online after the Kickstarter closes. If you backed the Strongholds & Streaming Kickstarter, you may recognize that we’re using BackerKit again for our pledge manager tool so hopefully this process will be familiar to a lot of Backers.

The pledge manager allows Backers to: - Fix any errors processing their Kickstarter payment - Make selections for things like t-shirt sizes, colors, etc. - Buy add-ons or other items through the “store” - Change/upgrade their pledge - Submit their shipping address

It also allows people who didn’t pledge to the Kickstarter preorder the non-exclusive rewards, which will be delivered at the same time (or shortly after) the Backer packages are shipped out.

The pledge manager will be locking orders from further changes and charging all Backers and Late Backers on July 20, 2020. Even though your pledge selection and add-ons are locked, you’ll still be able to update your shipping address until we lock addresses (closer to when we ship the rewards out in 2021).

PLEDGE MANAGER | I want to add some other rewards to my pledge. How do I do that?

After you’ve finished answering any basic survey questions, you’ll be directed to the pledge manager store where we’ll have the rewards from the Kickstarter available for individual purchase. This gives you a lot of freedom with how you can pledge initially, since you could technically just pledge the project with $1, get access to the pledge manager store as a Backer, then pick and choose the rewards you’d like to have.

Please note that the Kingdoms & Warfare Kickstarter is expected to fulfill rewards in Q2 2021, so any additional add-ons you buy won’t be delivered until the rest of your physical rewards are ready to be sent out.

PLEDGE MANAGER | I'd like to get charged now for my outstanding balance in the pledge manager; is there a way I can do that?

Yes! We’ve spoken with the pledge manager support team and they’ve been given the go ahead to process any charge requests from our backers and preorder customers who are trying to manage their budget. Please go ahead and contact BackerKit support and let them know you’d like to finish paying for your pledge:

PLEDGE MANAGER | I need to change my pledge level. Can I do that?

One of the other nifty things you can do in the pledge manager is completely change which pledge you want to back at. So, you can drop in $1 on the Kickstarter campaign, and when the pledge manager is open you can select the pledge level you want and pay the difference. Similarly, if you selected a higher pledge but want to change to a lower one you can do that – just keep in mind that Kickstarter will have already collected payment for the higher tier so you’ll be left with “credit” that you can apply towards Add-Ons (it won’t be automatically refunded since the pledge manager and Kickstarter are two separate systems/companies).

If you you want to “build your own pledge”, you can also do that in the pledge manager. You can change your pledge to the $1 pledge level, then use the Add-Ons page to pick and choose which rewards you want.

To change your pledge level, first access your Backer survey link that was emailed to you by Backerkit. Once you’re viewing your pledge, there should be a link at the bottom (beneath the “Get Started!” button) that says “switch your pledge level”. If you’re already past this page, then you can click on the hyperlinked text of your pledge level at the top and that’ll show a pop-up window with another link that says “Switch Pledge Levels?”. From there, you’ll be presented with a list of pledge to choose from; make your selection then click on the “Switch” button at the bottom of that window.

PLEDGE MANAGER | My Kickstarter payment had an error. How do I fix it?

Sometimes when Kickstarter attempts to process a pledge payment after a campaign ends, it fails for one reason or another. Maybe the credit/debit card is no longer valid or the charge was flagged as potentially fraudulent by your financial institution and denied or you entered in an old billing address. In these cases, your pledge will still be entered into the pledge manager system, but you’ll need to fix your payment before you receive any of your rewards. The pledge manager will walk you through this process and prompt you to re-enter (or put in a new) method of payment and then process the charge.

PLEDGE MANAGER | My pledge comes with a t-shirt. How do I let you know what size/color I want?

There are some pledges that include a t-shirt; the pledge manager will have some survey questions for you so you can tell us what size/color t-shirt you’d like.

MINIS | Do the minis come assembled/painted?

All minis come be unpainted and un-assembled, and those with multiple parts will be on sprues (the plastic connectors between the pieces). Some of the smaller minis may be a single part, but in general expect to cut out the pieces, do a bit of clean-up with an Xacto knife and file (make sure to wash the pieces after), fill any smaller gaps with “green stuff”, then assemble with super glue and apply primer.

There are lots of YouTube videos that covers all the basics of preparing resin miniatures for painting; this one seems to be popular (check the sidebar for more): https://youtu.be/ZA2wSe86DJU

MINIS | Will I be able to buy the original Gemstone Dragon minis?

Our first minis were produced exclusively for our Strongholds & Streaming Kickstarter; they were 5 Gemstone Dragon minis: Topaz Wyrmling, Young Emerald, Adult Ruby, Adult Amethyst, and Ancient Sapphire.

Those specific sculpts are Kickstarter-Exclusive for that campaign, so we’re no longer manufacturing them. However, we’re definitely interested in making more gemstone dragon minis (like the Onyx for K&W) and may explore different poses for the original 5 that we’d sell at a later time. We know y’all love them, but we want to make sure we’re honoring the promise we made to our earliest supporters! :D

MINIS | Can I purchase/download STL/CAD files of the minis?

We talked about this and decided that selling the STL/CAD files for the minis we produce is not part of our business. There are other folks online, on Kickstarter, whose entire business model is making cool mini sculpts and selling the .stl files. Go check them out!

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
